About my Rowing

31 08 2007

I am entering my second season as a light-weight varsity rower (sweep rowing- I have never sculled. My girlfriend has suggested we go out in a double, but we never have. Oh well). I have raced on both sides of the boat, but most of my races have been as stroke seat of a port-stroked boat.
My favorite part of the whole rowing is experience is being around a group of great guys, followed closely by the feeling of having a perfect set and rhythm (very rarely achieved).

Weights + Rowing = Tired

Today I did both my usual thursday lower-body weight circuit and rowing practice (perhaps foolishly). As luck would have it, today was the day our coach decided on for the first interval workout of the season: 8x 1 min. @ max power, 16 strokes/min. If you row (or even not) you can imagine how sore my quads are now. As I write this I’m recovering with a pint of chocolate ice-cream. YUMM!

Kind of rushed, as I had to squeeze the workout in before rowing today.

Workout:

  • Type: Strength Training
  • Date: 08/30/2007
  • Time: 15:00:00
  • Total Time: 1:00:00.00

About Myself

30 08 2007

I am a beginner triathlete, having just finished my first summer of racing.
I come from a background of competetive lightweight rowing (2 years) and a little running. I have decided to move away from rowing to do more running and triathlon, having discovered that I enjoy these more.

My primary (only, so far) race distance is sprint. I’d like to go longer, but my freestyle tecnique needs a lot of work, so that will have to wait until next summer.

I’m planning to train for and run the Madison Marathon after I finish my last season of rowing.
