Cardano’s Racing Goals
I have come up with a few things I’d like to achieve in upcoming races. Here they are, open for scrutiny:
First 10K of the spring (April-May): 40:00. I want to see if I can improve this much when I start actually doing serious training this fall and winter.
Madison Marathon (May 25th): 3:10. This is far enough away that I can adjust it if I decide it’s not reachable, or is too easy.
Sprint Triathlon (who knows which one?)
15 minutes for a half mile swim.
Under 1 hour for a 20 mile bike.
Under 21 minutes for a 5K run.
Lake Mills Triathlon (Race 1 of WTS)
7.5 minutes for a 1/4 mile swim.
41 minutes for a 15 mile strike.
21 minutes for a 5K run.
Overall time: 1:10:00
Spirit of Racine Half-Ironman, July 20th 2008
I’m uncertain about this race- I don’t know what I can do for any of these distances in a race. I can only make some guesses:
35-45 minutes for 1.2 mile swim,
2:30-2:50 hours for a 56 mile bike,
1:35-1:50 hours for a 13.1 mile run,
throw in 5 minutes for transitions and we have: 4:45-5:40 hours for Half-Ironman. I’ll narrow it down later.
Look good to me, but I don’t run ;-). The marathon looks like a good stretch - that will take serious focus from what I understand.
Great set of goals - all kinda reasonable when taken as a whole, with a nice logical progression in speed & distance. But at the same time, really quite quick!
What can I say? I’m just beginning and overconfident.
